The Wilkins | Gire trial team, comprised of Houston attorneys Nadia Gire and Kerith Willard, represented a local Texas company in Bexar County, and after a one-week trial, the jury returned a verdict of approximately one-third of the plaintiff’s damages of $1,417,000.
In this case, the Plaintiff alleged that WG’s client’s work on their residential property was defective and caused significant damages. However, Nadia and Kerith were able to successfully demonstrate that their client’s work was performed to industry standards and that all alleged damages were not the result of our client’s work as the Plaintiff’s home was purchased “as-is” and exhibited a long history of pre-existing damages to the plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems which the Plaintiff failed to inspect prior to purchase.
Nadia and Kerith were able to highlight inconsistencies in the Plaintiff’s evidence and testimony, and demonstrate that the Plaintiff’s attorney’s fees were inflated, ultimately persuading the jury that the plaintiff’s demands were not supported by the evidence presented at trial.
This trial was a testing one, but Nadia and Kerith’s perseverance and dedication to their client ultimately prevailed. Their hard work, strategic thinking, and attention to detail were critical in securing this outcome.
